Reporting to the Product Management Director, the Global Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for driving global import and export compliance process improvements, trade statistics reports, data analytics, identifying cost savings opportunities, and building trade strategies.

This position is part of the Product Management/Marketing team located in Glen Allen, Virgina, US, and will be on site.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain customs and export compliance policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Support strategy for import programs that minimize duty and reduce importing costs, develop and implement Duty Drawback processes.
  • Support strategy for export and sanctions programs that minimize risk and ensure restricted party screening and diligence processes are being followed.
  • Leverage trade statistics and data to translate into actionable business recommendations and business plans.
  • Assigning proper tariff classifications, valuation methodology, and country of origin determination and marking of imported goods.
  • Develop and implement standard work for all required recordkeeping. 
  • Provide training and communication to various functions.
  • Analyze and interpret requirements for import/export compliance as new or revised regulations are published.
  • Recognize areas of growth in the team member and develop plans to support team member’s improvement in those areas 

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BA degree and a minimum of 7 years in Global Trade Compliance, preference for experience with a multinational firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. trade laws and regulations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, C-TPAT and other CBP security initiatives. 
  • In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, import valuations, assists and special trade programs.
  • Ability to influence across the company and to interact with persons at all levels.
  • Able to effectively multitask many responsibilities, solve problems and implement decisions effectively, involving the right people in the process.
  • Detail-oriented.  Willing and able to personally handle the standard work of the import compliance function.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canada & U.S. trade requirements
