Position Summary

Schedules appointments for the divisions of Nephrology and Infectious Diseases. Obtains required demographics, referral, and insurance information and medical reports and records.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • As the primary contact for incoming calls, greets all callers with professionalism and customer service skills.
  • Uses the computerized scheduling system EPIC to schedule new and return patient appointments as well as associated ancillaries. Obtains and enters into the EPIC all demographic, referral, and insurance information completely and accurately.
  • Obtains, scans, and maintains current patient records and EMR. Facilitates medical records requests. Utilizes OnBase system for scanning/faxes.
  • Assists with Epic in basket and work queue needs.
  • Distributes mail, faxes, and correspondence timely and efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Location/Working Conditions

Administrative office setting with pressure due to high call volume. Some stooping required. Majority of work time spent on the telephone, greeting callers and maintaining patient records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options. 
  • Customer service oriented. 
  • Pleasant telephone demeanor is essential.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.

G06-H

Salary Range

$17.87 - $27.06 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
