Job Description

The Plant Engineer is accountable for managing the maintenance of the plant’s production equipment, furnace, electrical systems, building, and grounds. The Plant Engineer also ensures the plant is in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

The Plant Engineer will:

  • Conduct periodic inspection and provide guidance concerning all plant systems, furnaces, equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is followed on production equipment by scheduling repairs and upgrades while simultaneously working to maximize plant uptime.
  • Supervise training of personnel to ensure all crafts (electrical, hydraulic and mechanical) have the required level of expertise.
  • Support job change initiatives to improve performance.
  • Remain consistent with lean principles, and ensure the development of a continuous improvement culture within the plant by involving relevant salary and hourly workforce in the on-going identification, development, and implementation of improvements to the manufacturing process.
  • Champion energy savings initiatives.
  • Oversee plant apprenticeship program.

The Plant Engineer should have:

  • Experience communicating and directing the application of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience investigating all accidents and safety incidents within the plant, ensuring proper root cause analysis to provide remedial action to prevent reoccurrence and implement corrective actions.
  • The ability to prepare estimates and specifications of plant projects, determining crew size, trades involved, and materials required to complete projects.
  • Experience coordinating and directing outside contracting work associated with plant system, furnace, and facility.
  • The ability to effectively manage department budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience in a maintenance or engineering management position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills.

What we offer at O-I:

Salary Range:  The expected salary range for this position is between $110,000 - $130,000 and includes a possible 15% quarterly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
