The CHIPS FPGA department is investigating using containerized FPGA and simulation tools to integrate into a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. You will help solve some of the unique challenges related to containerizing large, proprietary vendor tools such as: managing container size and build environments, ensuring deterministic design compilation, and DO-254 artifact generation. You will also have the opportunity to develop a custom VSCode-based FPGA development environment. 

What You Will Do:

• Containerize tools, operating systems, and CI/CD Agents
• Evaluate tool containers to ensure deterministic results between runs
• Create a prototype development container for working with an RTL codebase
• Explore controlling tool containers with a repository tool like Artifactory

What You Will Learn:

• Container creation, management, and networking using a container engine like Docker
• Inter-container networking, allowing remote access and data handling
• Techniques for FPGA design and simulation software
• Experience working within an enterprise Linux environment

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines or containers
• Familiarity using an FPGA vendor tool suite
• Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or PERL
