The Role

We are looking for a BS/MD College Admissions Consultant with previous experience on an admissions committee and a passion for guiding students through the application process. As a BS/MD College Admissions Consultant with our organization, your primary responsibility will be to assist students in excelling in all aspects of the application process. Your goal is to work individually with students to identify their weaknesses, boost their confidence, and improve their overall application. You will closely mentor students, monitor their academic progress, and guide them through the application process, ultimately helping them reach their desired school. This role is crucial to our organization's dedication to providing exceptional academic support and aiding students in reaching their educational aspirations. This role can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Work with prospective students applying to pre-medical programs, helping them identify opportunities to build their profile for college and draft compelling application documents
  • Manage relationships with college applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on school selection, essays, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall admissions process
  • Identify optimal universities for individual students; provide feedback and guidance to students regarding their research on university programs and relevant resources, finding alignment with the student's background and goals
  • Support students with project planning, help them create and stick to effective timelines through Excel-based trackers
  • Stay up-to-date on the college admissions process and programs to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate school selection and the nuances of applying to college

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting core pre-med college applicants, including guidance on essays, personal statements, and overall strategy
  • Admissions Committee Experience: Have served on an admissions committee or board at a highly selective institution, preferably with experience evaluating BS/MD or pre-med applicants
  • Must have graduated from a top-tier undergraduate institution; Ivy League strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in education, specifically in admissions consulting or college counseling
  • Master’s Degree required
  • A passion for coaching students and young adults
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Strong English reading, writing, and editing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in project management
