Marshall B. Ketchum University is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and skilled Database Application Developer to join our dynamic Information Technology team. This hybrid role is ideal for a database developer passionate about designing, developing, and maintaining efficient, secure, and scalable database solutions across multiple cloud-based and a few on-premises applications.
You will play a key role in supporting the university’s digital infrastructure by crafting optimized database queries, generating insightful reports, and building robust integrations—all while upholding the highest standards of data privacy, governance, and documentation. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement after a successful completion of the introductory period of 90 days.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain relational databases for cloud and on-premises applications.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Develop and maintain data integrations between systems using APIs and ETL tools.
- Create and manage reporting solutions to support institutional decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy regulations, and internal security policies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for database structures, processes, and integrations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Implement and maintain database access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies as needed.

EXPERIENCE
- 3-5+ years of experience in database development and administration is required.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database platforms such as Microsoft SQL or MySQL is required.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments is required.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRS is preferred.
- Familiarity with integration tools and APIs (e.g., REST, SOAP) is preferred.
- Knowledge of higher education systems and data standards is preferred.
EDUCATION
- Required: High School degree or General Education degree (GED).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
