About the role

Strategic Delivery Lead - Business Cards & Payments

The Business Cards & Payments (BC&P) organization is committed to fueling the courageous entrepreneurial spirit that's at the heart of America's business owners and offer products and services to help them do more business.

We’ve built an organization that is focused on listening to and learning from the millions of business customers we serve every day to make sure our products, services and experiences work as hard as they do. The name of our organization reflects our current leadership position in Small Business and Commercial Cards - as well as our aspiration to serve a wide range of needs for our customers Beyond the Card.

We are a culture that dreams big and embraces an entrepreneurial and ownership spirit - just like our business customers.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-performing, leader to drive the execution of our highest-priority initiatives. This role is central to our team’s success, responsible for the prioritization, planning, and reporting of strategic workstreams. You will act as a critical bridge between business intent and operational reality, collaborating with senior leaders to build frameworks that track progress against our KPIs and OKRs.

The ideal candidate is a versatile and technically proficient problem-solver who can navigate the Capital One landscape with ease. You will oversee complex change management processes to ensure our team is operationally ready and that we proactively mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Execute thorough planning and prioritization processes across Business Operations to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.

  • Resource Management: Drive resource capacity planning exercises in close collaboration with key business partners to optimize team output.

  • Change Leadership: Manage large-scale change management efforts to ensure operational readiness and mitigate organizational risk.

  • Stakeholder Influence: Collaborate with a diverse group of partners, including Product, Tech, Underwriting, Fraud, Risk, and Compliance.

  • Compelling Communication: Deliver clear, structured, and compelling messages (verbal and written) to audiences ranging from junior associates to senior leadership.

  • Business Performance Tracking: Own the reporting and escalation structures, providing high-leverage insights for MBRs and newsletters while applying strong judgment to identify issues requiring attention.

  • Innovation: Leverage AI capabilities and emerging technologies to drive process efficiencies and "re-imagine" the status quo.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Judgment: Ability to navigate ambiguity and white space independently, making data-backed decisions that consider long-term scalable solutions.

  • Influence: A track record of building trust with leaders and partners to gain consensus and accelerate decision-making.

  • Results Focus: A "space owner" mindset—prioritizing work across an entire program and driving transformational results while managing expectations.

  • Teamwork: A leader among peers who cross-trains others and facilitates relationship-building across the organization.

  • People Leadership: An empathetic coach who provides candid feedback and invests in the development of diverse talent.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification.

  • At least 3 years of experience in project, product, or program management.

  • At least 3 years of people management experience.

  • At least 3 years of experience managing stakeholders across diverse business functions.

  • At least 2 years of experience using Google Suite or Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience.

  • PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification.

  • 5+ years of experience in people leadership.

  • 8+ years of project or program management experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial banking.

  • 5+ years of experience partnering with and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
