Middle School Boys Basketball - Head Coach

WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

A part-time, late summer/fall season appointment. On/off-campus responsibilities from 2:30 pm until 4:15 pm Monday through Friday. Coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday commitments for games. All coaches are employed on an annual basis and continued employment is based on annual performance reviews conducted by the Head of Athletics & Physical Education and the Assistant Head of Athletics & Physical Education.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, the Middle School Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for supporting various aspects of the boys’ basketball program, such as program development, training, and coaching team members. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Greenhill School. Greenhill School is a member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference (www.spcsports.org).

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must be CPR/AED certified or willing to get certified before the season begins;
• Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Greenhill School
• A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept;
• Coaching experience;
• Effective leadership, coaching and recruiting skills;
• Good communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department;
• A valid driver’s license (so that you can drive your team to away games, if possible).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Encourage, train, and coach the participants of the Middle School Boys Basketball Program (Grades 7-8);
• Collaborate with the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach;
• Organize practice sessions;
• Represent Greenhill School and the Boys Basketball Program professionally and within the bounds of good sportsmanship.

This is an exempt position that is paid a coaching stipend over the duration of the season.
