Jr. IT Inventory Specialist

SMS is seeking an IT Inventory Specialist to process AF 688th IT Hardware assets through the Central Asset Management Process.  The position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance and located at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities

• Process all IT hardware assets through the Equipment Control Officer (ECO) and Central Asset Management process.
• Perform receipt, processing and shipment of IT assets.
• Use the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) to provide accountability of all base IT equipment assigned to the Wing.
• Enter newly received IT assets into DPAS within 7 working days of receipt and acceptance.
• Provide customers with DPAS-generated or equivalent labels.
• Conduct annual physical inventory of all IT hardware assets on the organizational account.
• Notify the ECO of changes in status IT hardware assets (receipt, move, transfer, deployment, and disposal).
• Ensure bar code labels are affixed to all IT hardware assets.
• Manage user hand-receipts and equipment tracking records,
• Maintain IT Equipment Custodian Folder in accordance with ECO direction.
• Receive all 688 CW assets approved for disposal and ensure all assets are sanitized and prepared for transport to the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services (DLA/DS) location at Ft Sam Houston, TX using a Government Owned Vehicle (GOV).
• Receive desktop/laptop computers and remove all components that may store data from the asset.
• Maintain a local spreadsheet to track the hard drives until reused in another computer or destroyed.
• Degauss all hard drives (unclassified and classified) prior to disposal.
• Prepare various documents for disposition of equipment to DLA/DS.
• Use a government owned vehicle (GOV) to deliver completed pallets to DLA/DS on the scheduled date/time weekly.

Qualifications

• IT Equipment Inventory experience 
• High School diploma
• Commercial Forklift certification preferred
• 4 years experience with warehouse management/operations, etc.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment
• Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance required
