Intro to Position

NPR is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to lead Divisional financial planning, forecasting, and analytical efforts that support strategic decision-making.  You will translate complex financial data into actionable business recommendations for NPR leadership and serve as a key liaison between the Finance department and organizational stakeholders.  This is an individual contributor role, with the potential to include managerial responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain oversight of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range plans for multiple Divisions within NPR — owning key modeling, analysis, and insight responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with all levels of NPR operations to develop financial plans that support company OKRs and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor and pursue variances to budget, forecasts and long-range plans, providing actionable insights along with risks and opportunities analyses.
  • Ensure financial reports and presentations are audience-appropriate, translating complex data into clear, decision-ready information for various stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain positive, productive cross-divisional relationships to support accurate reporting and headcount planning.
  • Participate in the month-end closing process through preparation and submission of journal entries as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between Accounting and Divisions to communicate adherence to financial procedures and policy changes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional Financial Planning and Analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of accounting, auditing, & financial reporting.
  • Advanced data manipulation skills (MS Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Proven ability to think critically,  frame issues, and present optimal solutions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build confidence and trust with division members and external business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience operating and building reports within Workday Adaptive Planning and OfficeConnect, or similar applications.
  • Media industry experience.

Education Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.

Work Location & Requirements

  • Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. The employee will be required to be in the office at the Washington, D.C. location at least 3 days a week. The employee must also reside in Washington, D.C. / Maryland / Virginia Metro area.

Job Type

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.

Compensation

Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $125,000-$135,000, plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
