Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of US Global Transaction Banking (GTB) by overseeing day to day operations of the business, leading strategic planning and owning executive communications. This is a role positioned to add value to the GTB executive team by providing expertise and knowledge for the full spectrum of the day-to-day business activities and strategic guidance.

 

Accountabilities:

Supports the development of U.S. GTB strategic priorities by:

  • Contribute to the definition and development of the U.S. GTB strategy and roadmap through research of global payments trends and disruptions, and the analysis of their applicability to markets within Scotiabank's global footprint
  • Work directly with business line partners to discover and define GTB opportunities in alignment with the Bank’s global strategic priorities
  • Develop approaches to quantify and articulate the value of opportunities discovered
  • Design and lead problem solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional / business line working team members and subject matter experts
  • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes to senior leaders within the Bank
  • Support annual business planning activities
  • Prepare executive-level materials articulating strategies, opportunities and day-to-day business activities

 

Support the day-to-day management of the business:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations by partnering with GTB and key support and control functions
  • Coordinate and ensure completion of ad-hoc requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to reporting and expense management, partnering closely with Finance
  • Own and execute the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for US GTB
  • Independently prioritize and drive cross-functional initiatives
  • Champion a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

 

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Exceptional attention to detail, coupled with strong editing skills
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly: PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • High organizational and project management skills, being able to handle a large number of concurrent, high-priority activities and requests
  • Strong curiosity and research capabilities to obtain background information and insight
