Sr Chemist – R&D
About this role:
As part of the Endoscopy R&D team, this position’s primary responsibilities include establishing in-house analytical chemistry methods to support new product development and sustaining. You will serve as a technical expert to R&D teams and will conduct research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, and procedures. You will be tasked with developing and executing new or existing analytical test methods, reporting results with identified risks, developing mitigation plans and effectively communicating this information to stakeholders. You will be capable of delivering multi-project needs for the business.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develops and/or uses new or existing analytical test methods to determine quantity, quality, and purity of new compounds with minimal supervision.
- Independently, or as a member of a team, develops, directs, and executes plans for complex projects.
- Selects techniques to solve complex problems. Exercises authority and judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results. Communicates results to a variety of audiences including technical community and higher-level leadership.
- Compiles and analyzes test and research data to establish technical specifications for designing or modifying products, processes, and materials.
- Builds relationships with and effectively collaborates cross-functionally and with internal customers.
- Conducts research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, and procedures.
- Develops and mentor’s team’s engineering talent
What we’re looking for in you:
Minimal requirements:
- MS or PhD degree in Chemistry or similar field.
- A minimum of 2 years work related experience post graduate program.
- Direct experience in either analytical chemistry, biochemistry, polymer chemistry, polymer synthesis or related techniques, analysis and equipment.
- Accomplished in consulting and interacting with internal and external subject matter experts.
- Experience using various laboratory instruments such as: NMR, GPC, FTIR, XRPD, DSC, TGA, RAMAN, etc.
Preferred qualifications:
- Expertise in polymers synthetic methodologies, characterization, and formulation development.
- Application of design of experiment and statistical analysis with problem solving methodologies.
