Job Title: Damage Prevention Utility Foreman

Job Summary:
The Damage Prevention Utility Foreman is responsible for leading a team of utility locators and technicians to ensure the accurate and timely identification and marking of underground utility lines prior to excavation activities. This role is critical in preventing damage to vital infrastructure and ensuring the safety of construction crews and the general public.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of utility locators and technicians to efficiently respond to and complete utility locate requests within designated service areas
- Coordinate with construction companies, homeowners, and other stakeholders to schedule and prioritize utility locates
- Ensure all utility locates are performed in compliance with state/provincial regulations and company policies and procedures
- Train and develop team members on proper utility locating techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols
- Monitor team productivity and performance, providing coaching and feedback as needed
- Maintain detailed records of all utility locate activities, including documentation of markings and any issues or damages
- Investigate and report on any incidents of utility damage, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
- Collaborate with other utility companies and local authorities to share information and best practices
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members adhere to relevant health and safety requirements
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical/vocational training preferred
Minimum experience required of the position
- At least 8 years of experience as a utility locator or related field experience
Preferred Experience:
- Strong knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and locating techniques
- Proficient in the use of utility locating equipment and technology
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Working knowledge of AM/FM/GIS systems
- Experience in customer service / customer contact roles
- The ability to lift at least 50lbs
- Valid state issued driver's license and clean driving record
