Position Objective:
The Senior Tile and Stone Project Manager drives the execution and management of NSP and custom tile and stone needs for the commercial division. The senior project manager works within the current supplier network to identify off the shelf products to fill needs for customers in the commercial market segments. This position will shop for needs outside of Shaw Contract product offering by working through existing product offerings for both the residential and commercial brands, shopping with current suppliers and, finally, looking outside of current supplier offerings. This position will communicate with sales, marketing, sourcing, suppliers, product cost, distribution, logistics, brand management, and design.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with sales team, customers, and outside suppliers regarding all aspects of a project including specific needs, custom design, project planning, pricing, quality approval and physical samples.
- Facilitate the filling of specialty needs for projects and brand standards while partnering with SIS and CDS.
- Serve as the centralized contact for all specialty needs including alternate sizes for running line products, off the shelf product from suppliers’ product offerings, and true custom needs with existing suppliers.
- Manage new supply additions while partnering with sourcing, sales, and brand management.
- Lead cost reduction efforts by influencing spend consolidation and usage of existing supply. This will include negotiation with current suppliers for better pricing on long-term project needs.
- Manage project timelines to drive results with suppliers to ensure the design process, cost estimates, and sampling are delivered to the customer accurately and timely.
- Serve as subject matter expert related to all tile and stone custom products to internal and external stakeholders including sales, SIS, CDS and brand management.
- Foster relationships with suppliers, industry experts, design firms and others who impact the tile and stone market for commercial.
- Innovate and facilitate change to processes and procedures as the commercial tile and stone business grows. Manage assigned projects related to changes implemented.
- Work with Innovation, Quality Control, Sourcing and Technical to assure proper testing and evaluations of new platforms are complete prior to accepting a purchase order.
- Prioritize workload demands to drive results for customer project timelines, meetings, install dates, etc.
- Craft proper communication concerning tile and stone dependent on audience, whether internal partners or customer facing.
- Manage the creation of Product Blueprints for tile and stone suppliers and verify details to ensure products meet the stated needs of the customer.
- Procure all necessary testing information from tile suppliers to share with QC and internal teams for marketing and spec information.
- Analyze project related information and utilize problem solving expertise in the absence of detailed instructions and include the ability to read, analyze, comprehend, and make good judgments based on the data provided.
- Coordinate information related to tile and stone accessory needs with technical and Totalworx category management.
- Manage inquiries and aid with problem solving with customers, field sales, and internal associates as it pertains to tile and stone.
- Plan and organize reports as needed using applications such as Tableau and Sales Force.com.
- Partner with customer service to ensure order verification, timely customer information, UOM explanation and lead time management at a managerial level to ensure products are manufactured and purchased to the specification including physical sample verification and finished product blueprint.
- Manage and provide pricing for tile and stone NSPs including commission grids for Account Managers and margin levels to Leadership.
Position Requirements:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of the sourcing process and supplier interaction.
- Theoretical and practical project management knowledge and organizational skills.
- Some travel expected within supplier facilities, trade shows, vendor meetings and internal meetings as needed.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills including logical thinking, objectivity, and the ability to breakdown complex concepts into manageable components.
- Relationship building is necessary to drive cooperation with the supplier environment and with internal team members.
