What You Will Do:
- The candidate will collaborate across programs and engineering teams to identify efficiencies and support the development of best practices, necessitating an ability to clearly communicate objectives and status to audiences with varying degrees of understanding of the products and technology, understand and manage both customer-funded and internally-funded projects.
- Technical and Project Management – drive success in development of IFATDS and related future business opportunities, guide team members on the management of scope, schedule, and budget for engineering design activities; candidate will be directly involved in project management and execution, including Earned Value and Risk Management. Technical Leadership of a software team, ownership of software product providing innovative solutions that meets or exceeds customer expectations. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision-making skills, strategic thinking, networking skills, and the ability to accurately forecast resource needs
- Development of capabilities to be added to IFATDS software, including development of software requirements, design, coding, and testing, development of estimates (both Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and formal Request for Proposal (RFP) responses) for new customers and/or additional capabilities for existing customers.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- 15+ years of work-related experience with emphasis on Software Engineering and leadership including experience working with the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) for DoD and/or IFATDS for international customers, applying effective leadership, collaborating effectively and building partnerships with others inside and outside the parent organization, proposals and projects in an execution leadership role that included responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget management. Willingness to travel occasionally to support customer events and related external activities.
- Technical credibility or domain knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Battle Management, COA analysis, Variable Message Format (VMF) “K-series” messages, Joint or Coalition interoperability, Long-Range Precision Fires, Extended Range Cannon Artillery, Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, Projectile Tracking Systems, Fire Direction Centers, Common Operational Picture, meteorology (MET), or target acquisition.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Fluency in Forward Observer and crew TTPs for field artillery in tactical environments in Multi Domain Operations (MDO), be able to establish key elements of operational plans with direct impact towards the achievement of results and holding people accountable for their contributions, be able to see the context, and develop or adjust relevant processes, standards and operational plans in support of the Engineering functional strategy. Knowledge of open standards SW development requirements, Agile, iterative software development, experience leading a software team, Scrum Master or similar, Knowledge and experience in DevSecOps best practices.
