Building Maintenance Tech I: Performs a variety of routine, semi-skilled maintenance and repair work under close supervision in support of County facilities, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting. Follows established procedures to complete assigned tasks, identifies maintenance needs, and escalates more complex issues to higher-level technicians.
Building Maintenance Tech II: Performs skilled maintenance, repair, and alteration work across multiple building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting, utilizing applied working knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Exercises independent judgment in prioritizing and completing assignments under moderate supervision, diagnoses moderately complex system issues, and coordinates work activities as needed to support facility operations.
Building Maintenance Tech III: Performs, plans, and coordinates highly skilled, advanced diagnostic work in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of County facilities across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC, and painting, at a journeyman level. Independently completes complex repairs, analyzes system performance to recommend improvements or optimization, and serves as a technical resource by providing guidance and support to staff and projects as needed.
Building Maintenance Tech I: The anticipated hiring range for this role is $48,389.41 - $55,647.82. The full salary range for the role is $48,389.41 - $67,745.17.
Building Maintenance Tech II: The anticipated hiring range for this role is $57,632.56 - $66,277.44. The full salary range for the role is $57,632.56 - $80,685.58.
Building Maintenance Tech III: The anticipated hiring range for this role is $61,090.51 - $70,254.09 . The full salary range for the role is $61,090.51 - $85,526.72
Examples of duties
Building Maintenance Tech – All Levels- Maintain and repair County facilities and equipment including but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical.
- Install, adjust, repair, and inspect HVAC equipment including forced air furnaces, boilers, water pumps, chillers, exhaust fans, and air filters.
- Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets and pipes as well as clear obstructions from lines.
- Perform carpentry work including but not limited to the repair of cabinets, partitions, walls, windows, and doors.
- Assist with improvement projects, as assigned, to improve operations and facility conditions.
- Troubleshoot, adjust and repair doors and door locking mechanisms. Issue keys and maintain key issuing logs.
- Inspect County facilities to identify building maintenance needs and safety issues. May include the use of drone equipment to conduct inspections
- Install, maintain and repair a variety of floor coverings such as carpeting, tile, linoleum, and wood.
- Operate, maintain, and repair a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, sewer augers, and various hand tools required for basic electrical, basic plumbing, and maintenance work.
