Purpose:

 

The Director, Internal Control, AML, ATF & Sanctions (Director, Internal Control) is a key member and contributor to the overall success of the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions program. This role has primary responsibility for contributing to the strategic direction and operationalization of the Bank’s AML risk management, including ensuring relevant controls are in place, performing ongoing design and evaluation of controls, overseeing and contributing to strategic enterprise projects, acting as a subject matter expert on AML matters, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and laws in the various GBM operating jurisdictions. In addition, acts as a key stakeholder in the multinationals (MNC) client initiative, including conducting due diligence on MNC clients, providing initial onboarding recommendations, and socializing the results of due diligence and getting appropriate stakeholder sign-off.   

 

The Director, Internal Control supports GBM business partners with the understanding and management of AML by ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations. This role will work with various stakeholders across the Bank including the business and GBM onboarding functions, second line (AML Risk), relevant Global functions, and Internal Audit. In addition to internal stakeholders, there will be expectations for engagement with external stakeholders such as regulators, appointed independent reviewers, etc.
 


What You’ll Do:

 

AML, ATF & Sanctions

  • Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout the Bank to deepen client relationships;
  • Plays a key role in the development and roll-out of process changes and strategic solutions as they align to changes in law and regulation, risk appetite, strategic plans, etc.; 
  • Contribute to the enhancement of existing policies and procedures, including identifying policy enhancements; 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and advisor to the Front Office and GBMO with AML and sanctions advice and counsel;
  • Acts as core control for all high-risk client management, including maintaining approval authority and chairing a high-risk client management committee; 
  • Creates a consolidated view of AML and regulatory risk through reporting on pertinent KPls/KRl;
  • Supports execution of the AML and sanctions risk assessments and other risk assessment initiatives;
  • Oversees the GBM U.S. 1st Line AML Testing program and designs local requirements in proactively identifying control deficiencies; 
  • Acts as a key stakeholder in the multinationals (MNC) client initiative, including conducting due diligence on MNC clients, providing initial onboarding recommendations, and socializing the results of due diligence and getting appropriate stakeholder sign-off;   
  • Accountable for resolution of self-identified issues and tracking, in accordance with the GBM Issue Management framework; 
  • Assist in the development/maintenance of GBM AML training programs across relevant lines of business to ensure awareness of relevant GBM and Bank requirements;
