Position Summary
The Inpatient Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship will provide the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a broad experience across inpatient medical settings. Clinical practice will be focused in the Renal, End-Stage Renal, Immunology, Endocrine, Adolescent Medicine, GI/Hepatology and Admission Team settings. This full-time, 6-month APP Fellowship will build competency by means of hands–on direct care experiences, didactic classes, simulation and presentations. The APP Fellows will train with physicians and APPs and integrate with members of the multidisciplinary team. APP Fellows will be supported by a core team of MD/NP/PA leaders, APP liaisons, preceptors, and mentors. Clinical time will include night/weekend rotation.

Key Responsibilities
• Front-line care and coordination of pediatric patients including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family centered care of patients and their families.
• Consult and collaborate with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds. Conducting patient assessment and medical history, physical exams, and diagnosing health and developmental problems.
• Care for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives, as well as facilitation of patient/family and multidisciplinary team.
 
Schedule:
•    36 hours, 50% day/night rotation, every 3rd weekend. Three 12-hour shifts per week.
 
Minimal Qualifications
Education
• Graduate from an accredited Master of Physician Assistant Studies or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) / Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program.
 
Experience
• Open to new graduates or experienced PAs and NPs
 
Licensure/Certifications
• PA, NP Board Certification (PNP-PC, PNP-AC, FNP)
• Massachusetts NP or PA license
• MCSR and DEA upon hire
• BLS upon hire
• PALS & ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
