We are looking for an experienced Associate Director of manufacturing to lead and manage the digital microfluidic cartridge manufacturing team at Nuclera. The eProtein Discovery™ Cartridge is a complex, high value, and low volume product, with high quality expectations from end users. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the supply of a high quality, high value consumable element to Nuclera’s product offering.
About the role:
● Lead and manage the cartridge manufacturing team; providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and adherence to established procedures and standards.
● Ensure the smooth transition of process improvements from R&D into production.
● Be accountable for meeting and reporting against production targets.
● Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to optimize efficiency, productivity, and quality.
● Work closely with the Quality department to ensure the correct use of quality processes (e.g., CAPA, NCR).
● Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices.
● Responsible for managing external relationships with key partners, such as third-party logistics providers, for ensuring cartridge products reach customers in the expected condition and timeline.
Requirements
Essential:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
● A minimum of 5 years’ management experience in a manufacturing role.
● Highly effective communicator across all business levels from the shop floor to senior management.
● Proven ability to identify and manage risks by bringing clarity and solutions.
● Experience with process optimization, technology transfer, and/or scale-up manufacturing.
● Proficient in production scheduling, including WIP management.
● Experience with implementing cross training and manufacturing resilience strategies.
● Strong working knowledge of different production and continuous improvement processes, as well as the ability to identify the correct approach in each situation.
Desirable:
● Experience working within an ERP system.
● Knowledge of automation and the implementation of automation.
● Experience working in the semiconductor industry, or similar high-tech industry.
● Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, or wider life science industry.
