Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a liver disease with high unmet medical need. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).
The Field Medical Development Director (FMDD) plays a key role in advancing the scientific capabilities and effectiveness of the Field Medical Team while maintaining the ability to connect with the medical community. This role is designed for an experienced Field Medical (FM) employee who can provide leadership and development support within the existing Field Medical Teams, act as a scientific expert for internal and external stakeholders and contribute to scientific or clinical training efforts. The FMDD will collaborate with cross functional teams and offer scientific insights to shape company strategy. The FMDD will support cross-functional territory or account coverage and will be well-prepared to engage in detailed discussions about Non-Invasive Testing for accounts seeking further information. This may be in response to identified needs from the Field Medical or commercial teams. Additionally, the FMDD will play a role in coaching and mentoring colleagues and will lead development programs to enhance the FM Team's overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Scientific Exchange and Regional Engagement with other Field Medical Colleagues
• Establish and maintain relationships that may contribute to FMs ability to engage key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), and key stakeholders.
• Act as a scientific expert in data studying nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and noninvasive tests (NITs) for the company's products, pipeline, and therapeutic areas, engaging in advanced scientific discussions. Deeply understand Madrigal’s NIT strategy and be able to address regional scientific needs. Provide insights on regional best practices, unmet medical needs, and market trends to help guide internal teams and inform strategy. Training and Mentorship
• Contribute to training and development initiatives for the FM Team, ensuring they remain proficient in scientific knowledge and product information.
• Mentor and coach FM colleagues and peers, offering guidance on scientific interactions and field activities.
• Provide constructive feedback aligned with Medical Leadership feedback and foster the professional growth of the FM Team through coaching and development plans.
• Guide colleagues on how to best execute on tactical plans and regional goals as outlined by FM Leader Support and address the scientific needs of the FM Team, working with leadership on coaching, training, or skill development needs. Territory and Team Support
• Assist with territory coverage across the region to maintain key relationships and ensure ongoing engagement with healthcare providers.
• Collaborate with the regional and national cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive support for high-priority accounts and emerging opportunities.
• Assist Medical Leadership as a point of contact for cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and clinical, on specific projects and to ensuring the consistent dissemination of scientific messages. Scientific Leadership and Development
• Contribute to scientific leadership by offering insights into regional strategies and helping shape the overall medical strategy for the company.
• Represent the company at regional, national, and international scientific meetings, engaging in dialogue with medical experts and presenting data.
• Identify opportunities for collaborations with KOLs, investigator-initiated studies (IISs), and real-world evidence studies that align with the company’s strategic goals. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Partnerships
• Work closely with Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial, and Market Access teams to ensure the integration of scientific insights into broader business strategies.
• Act as a key advisor for internal stakeholders, providing guidance on product launches, competitive intelligence, and scientific positioning.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, DNP, MSN, MSPA, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or medical discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison or significant (5+ years) clinical practice experience along with pharmaceutical industry experience.
