Description
The University of Oklahoma’s College of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS) seeks applicants for a full-time, renewable-term faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. This role includes teaching and providing academic leadership for the college’s social sciences and humanities offerings, with a focus on interdisciplinary, applied, and accessible learning. With an anticipated starting date of January 1, 2026, the College of Professional and Continuing Studies invites applications from all interested and qualified parties. This position will join the College’s effort in offering online, undergraduate degrees. We are seeking a collaborative educator who is passionate about student success and committed to shaping curriculum that reflects PACS’s mission of expanding access to high-quality education for a wide range of adult learners. The successful candidate will teach courses, mentor faculty, and guide the ongoing development and improvement of social science and humanities curricula across PACS programs.
This is a nine-month position, located on the Norman Campus; in exceptional cases, a remote location will be considered.
The faculty member will be responsible for a four-course online teaching load in the fall and spring semesters and contributing to college service activities as appropriate for a full-time faculty member.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree and industry or academic experience in a traditional social science or humanities field (e.g., psychology, political science, sociology, anthropology, classics, history, modern languages, literature, etc.).
· Experience with teaching high-quality, innovative online programming for adult learners.
· Skill in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and a commitment to collegiality and collaborative decision making.
Preferences (Not Required):
· Ph.D. or terminal degree in a traditional social science or humanities field.
· Demonstrated ability to show courtesy and respect in interactions with fellow faculty, students, college staff, consistent with the core values of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.
· Knowledge of and experience with higher education faculty concerns/issues, shared governance, learning outcome assessment, program review and accreditation, emerging online and/or distance learning issues, and innovative programming for online undergraduate degrees.
