Summary:
The Skills Trainer II is responsible for working with individuals with an intellectual or physical disability. This position assists the participant with frontline services such as guidance, training site supervision, and direct classroom instruction. This position helps motivate and supervise consumers to achieve maximum skills. This position creates and facilitates a preselected curriculum for assigned activity areas. Monitor and document participant’s progress. In this role, it is crucial to promote an active and inclusive learning environment for learners with diverse needs and create effective training programs to ensure our participants and employees will succeed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Present information using a variety of formats, techniques, and resources (i.e., role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures).
•    Develop and deliver training programs to help participants maintain and improve individual job skills and performance.
•    Work closely with management to create and enhance the on-the-job training activities.
•    Coordinate with the Learning and Development Supervisor to secure instructional materials for training.
•    Utilizes the agency’s learning and management system to deliver training and provide content feedback to the Learning and Development Supervisor.
•    Leverages the agency’s learning library to deliver learning and ensure accurate content.
•    Develop and administer ongoing training to existing team members.
•    Actively seek current training methods and best practices to facilitate the training of participants.
•    Communicate with leadership and management teams to proactively identify topics to be addressed or areas that require additional instruction.
•    Analyze metrics to gauge participant and employee performance once out of training.
•    Facilitates direct instruction for participants to gain the soft skills needed to obtain and retain a job. Serves as the primary instructor for all training, including work evaluation, work adjustment, and community work adjustment.
•    Instructs at different functioning levels to accommodate lessons to serve the population's needs in training.
•    Provides feedback to specified team members regarding individual performances.
•    Conducts readiness workshops and provides one on one coaching to participants and enrolled job seekers.
•    Maintains detailed case records according to funder and agency requirements.
•    Ensure participant information is entered into the appropriate form, database, or report promptly and maintain confidentiality requirements.
•    Comply with the agency’s policy and procedures and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities standards.
•    Comply with referral sources requirements (APD, Medwaiver, Qlarant, DVR, etc.)
•    Performs other duties as assigned.
 QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with community partners. 
•    Must be flexible, multi-task orientated, and able to prioritize job duties with minimal supervision, including flexibility in work hours.
•    Must always exercise discretion and confidentiality.
•    Must attend required meetings.
•    Good written English skills are necessary to perform job duties.
•    Must follow all safety procedures and correct safety issues, if possible.  
•    Must have a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
•    Able to operate a computer and MS Office software, including Word and Excel. 
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Responds appropriately to supervision.
•    Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences and communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. 
•    Demonstrates responsible behavior, initiative, effort, and commitment toward completing assignments efficiently.  
•    Demonstrate ability to work in teams, problem-solving skills, and pay attention to detail.
Education and Experience:  
•    Skills Trainer II: Good interpersonal skills and adaptability to change preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•    Experience in assessing transferable skills, aptitudes, abilities, needs, interests, readiness for employment, and barriers that hinder employment, highly desired.
