Staff Software Engineer, Product Platform

Vanta’s product monitors the security posture for thousands of companies, pulling tens of millions of API calls of data per day, pushing information from hundreds of thousands of laptop agents, and running tests against that data continuously to identify potential security threats. Our frontend infrastructure and tooling need to stay ahead of exponential growth in our customer base. As a Senior Software Engineer at Vanta, you’ll be responsible for setting technical direction to provide a strong foundation for our frontend stack and enable our infrastructure to scale with our business. You will also drive complex projects across our technical stack and mentor our talented engineering team. Your past experience will be leveraged to enable and accelerate Vanta’s growth.

What you’ll do as a Staff Software Engineer at Vanta:

Vanta’s Product Platform team’s mission is to enable Vanta teams to efficiently build products and experiences for our customers. With a full stack focus, you will tackle challenging and highly impactful user facing challenges that have a company-wide impact. You and your team empower other Vanta engineers to leverage cutting-edge technologies and best practices to make Vanta more performant and scalable on a platform level. Example projects include creating a foundation for enabling fine-grained authorization across the entire product, creating Vanta’s first centralized task feed and working cross-functionally to ensure our billing platform scales with the needs of the business.

•  You will also:

  • Hands-on lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders and engineers to enable our business and team to scale

  • Lead design reviews and communicate constraints to ensure we are making the right trade-offs

  • Advocate for product quality and collaborate with product engineering teams on cross cutting features

  • Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation

  • Collaborate with Security to ensure Vanta’s platform implements best practices for customer data

  • Collaborate with Engineering Leadership to build and execute the engineering strategy to expand the quality, scalability, and reliability of Vanta’s codebase

  • Act as a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members

How to be successful in this role:

• Have 8+ years of experience with full stack development, delivering customer facing components that are used by multiple product teams

• Prior experience on a platform team

• Served as a technical lead for large projects (6+ months in length), including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions

• Built successful SaaS product foundations for both startup and enterprise users 

• Upleveled teams of engineers by mentoring and leading by example

• Experience working at rapidly scaling startups and large companies, especially with environments that prioritize a bias for action
