About the role

SUMMARY

The Surgical Clinical Reviewer’s chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to the ACS NSQIP. This is accomplished through high quality data compilation, documentation and entry into the ACS NSQIP database of all eligible surgeries for the hospital. The SCR works closely with the members of the Department of Surgery to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Surgical Services

SCHEDULE: Mon-Friday, 8am-4pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    •ASN required, BSN preferred. 

  • Minimum of one year experience in one of the following settings: hospital surgery department, surgery clinic, clinical research, or medical records. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience required 

  • Computer and Internet experience required - familiarity and comfort with MS Office products is essential for success in this position (Word and Excel- required; PowerPoint and Access- preferred) 

  • Database data entry and/or management experience preferred. 

  • Basic statistical knowledge preferred 

  • Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred

  • Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

    •Current NYS RN license

EDUCATION:

AS: Nursing (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
