JOB SUMMARY:

Performs hard floor and carpet care related to tasks adhering to established techniques and standards in patient care and ancillary areas and/or possesses ability to perform service call cleaning in specialized areas of the Hospital.  Performs heavy lifting of trash and linen at least 40% of work shift and /or is considered the primary assignment for management of biohazardous waste.  All tasks follow established department policies and procedures maintaining or exceeding standards of cleanliness on sanitation as set forth by Marin County, the California Department of Public health and The Joint Commission. 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

High School level or equivalent preferred. 

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of six months’ experience in an acute care hospital, a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility, or a medical clinic is preferred.  Twelve months’ experience as a janitor in an office building or commercial complex or as a hotel housekeeper is acceptable.  Floor care and/or documented ability to physically handle heavy lifting and pushing/pulling tasks preferred.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to organize work tasks and carry them through to a timely conclusion.
  • Ability to physically handle workload requirements.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all supervisory personnel.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all other employees.
  • Possesses a flexible attitude regarding performing varied job tasks and work assignments.
