THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a data scientist who specializes in marketing modeling to join our team. In this role you will develop and evolve our internal marketing mix model, help create a roadmap to support its evolution, and deliver actionable insights driving business and marketing KPI. This role requires a strong background in data science, machine learning, and a deep understanding of marketing analytics. It is expected in this role to take ownership of open-ended ambiguous problems and reach an optimal solution by narrowing multiple options into the best approach.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.



THE GAME PLAN

  • Develop and manage mix models to report on effectiveness of campaigns across all our products
  • Design predictive models to optimize customer acquisition and retention strategies across generosity, prospecting and competitive intelligence, driving strategic decision-making for marketing, commercial, and customer growth initiatives
  • Build robust predictive models, showing capabilities of feature and model selection; develop, iterate and take to production advanced machine learning models
  • Identify appropriate tools, systems, and models to solve large data problems and improve efficiency in the data infrastructure; choose the 'best' approach given available resources
  • Create tools and models to generate actionable insights on Marketing campaigns
  • Troubleshoot and resolve coding and modeling problems presented by others
  • Work with agencies, vendors and in-house data engineers to source and manage all the data elements required for marketing mix modelling and channel attribution
  • Partner with decision-makers across the company to understand their goals, identify opportunities to use data to develop new insights, and improve business results
  • Present to senior leaders confidently and with impact


THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in data science, analytics or engineering preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data science preferred
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with high proficiency in Python and SQL (or coding language of choice)
  • Experience creating and managing models for marketing mix and channel attribution
  • Experience with Databricks or similar cloud-based data science platform. Bonus points for experience optimizing compute based on model specifications
  • Experience with Git, at least familiar with concepts such as branches, commits, and pull requests
  • Familiarity with on- and off-line marketing data
  • Experience using simulations for scenario analysis and recommendations
  • Experience delivering model result to business users and have recommendation implemented
  • Knowledge of sports and/or experience working within a heavily regulated industry is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – demonstrable track record of influencing marketing strategy through your insights
