At Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (AVES), we have recently expanded—adding new doctors, enhancing our services, and growing our departments—now operating in our brand-new, state-of-the-art 45,000 sq. ft. hospital.

As part of this continued growth, we’re hiring for multiple technician roles across departments. We’re seeking highly skilled, self-motivated, and team-oriented professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional care in advanced veterinary medicine.

Overview:
Overnight ER & CC Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in the daily operations of Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (AVES). They are essential in supporting our practitioners, ensuring the highest quality of patient care, and maximizing the efficiency of the medical team. By handling technical tasks and managing administrative responsibilities, technicians enable our practitioners to focus fully on medical priorities and deliver exceptional care.

Compensation:
  • Non-Credentialed Technicians: starting at $24/hr.
  • Credentialed Technicians: starting at $25/hr.
    • + $2/hr. overnight differentials offered
Flexible Schedules Available:
  • Full Time
    • Days: TBD
    • 3x12 hour shifts
    • 6pm-7am
Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care and Assistance:
  • Restrain pets, prepare/administer medications, and assist in exams, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Monitor anesthesia, provide supportive therapy, and teach clients how to administer treatments.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and communicate status updates to the care team and clients.
  • Record patient histories, treatments, and procedures accurately for invoicing and records.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and maintain detailed progress notes.
  • Schedule procedures, relay accurate information to clients, and seek help when needed.
Additional Duties:
  • Perform lab procedures and collect/prep samples for analysis.
  • Operate and maintain radiography units and diagnostic software.
  • Maintain and report issues with medical equipment; restock and manage supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, maintain hospital cleanliness, and assist with patient hygiene.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) or Experienced Veterinary Technicians with at least 3 years of technician experience, dedicated to providing outstanding client service and excellent patient care.
  • Preferred Emergency/Critical Care/ICU experience
