About the role

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Quality Planner to join our Quality group! The Quality Planner is central to communicate batch and sample investigations, ensuring smooth progress and timely updates. You'll act as a key mediator between Quality and external stakeholders, driving excellence in the Quality process.

This is a full-time onsite role at our chemical manufacturing facility in Phillipsburg, NJ.

What we’re looking for

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in physical, life science or other related concentration is required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in quality control lab setting in regulated industry (GMP, IPEC, Pharma) experience is required  
    • Strong data analytical skills (e.g. leveraging Excel, PowerBI)
    • Problem solving techniques training, i.e., Lean, Six Sigma
  • Preferred Qualifications: 
    • 3+ years of experience
    • SAP experience
    • LIMS experience

This role involves constant communication with key stakeholders to prioritize tasks and address potential issues like labor shortages, equipment downtime, and out-of-specification concerns. By continually balancing and rebalancing resources—including equipment, materials, and staffing—in collaboration with various teams, the Quality Planner ensures efficient operations while meeting customer expectations.

  • Execute established weekly scheduling process, incorporating stakeholder priorities, testing time, analyst training, and other information to develop a lab testing schedule.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions to support planning.
  • Manages and leads efforts with team to ensure gaps are understood and closed or mitigated to minimize potential risks.
  • Tracks performance reports and communicate to senior management.
  • Develop and implement quality plans and weekly scheduling process to ensure compliance to adhere to internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date scheduling timelines as well as escalation of issues to appropriate function.
  • Use Excel and PowerBI to develop and maintain tools that enable timely information sharing on status of lab inventory and progress on priorities. 
  • Act as the principal liaison for our cross functional teams to communicate status of items.
  • Proactively communicate to impacted teams any delays or potential delays with revised timelines.
  • Develop and deliver concise and impactful presentations on lab and batch release performance, including root cause analysis of misses and countermeasures/corrective and preventative actions.
  • Track and report on status of action plans for improvement.
  • Collaborate with analysts and lab management to identify and execute improvements to lab processes including scheduling, sample receipt and testing, documentation review and approval.
  • Collaborate with batch release team to identify and execute improvements to the batch release process.
  • Provide critical support to ensure the seamless operation of administrative functions, thereby enabling the quality organization to achieve its strategic objectives on ad hoc basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • This position will report directly to the Senior Manager - Quality Assurance and will interact with virtually all personnel within the facilities.
  • The candidate must be able to work alone or with groups of others and with little or no direct supervision.
  • This position interacts with all Plant Operations, R&T, Procurement, Marketing, Sales, other roles within the Quality Organization at other Avantor locations, and regulators as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

  • Minimal physical effort is required. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
  • A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
