Summary
The Valve Team Member maintains, refurbishes and functional checks the mechanical and control functions of gate, globe, butterfly, check, and ball valves.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years work experience in Valve Maintenance on globe, gate, butterfly, check and ball valves.
(Meets or exceeds the requirements of ANSI/ANS 3.1, 1978, 4.5.3.)
Testing:
- EEI MASS Test administered.
Nuclear requirement:
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
- This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
- These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Performs valve disassembly, inspection, blue check, critical measurements, and parts replacement. Proficient in valve lapping equipment setup and operation, hand lapping, stack-up measurements and re-assembly for gate, globe, butterfly check and ball valves.
2) Repairs/refurbishes internal valve components with an understanding of a variety of valve actuators and their functions. Performs valve packing removal, installation, and consolidation. Executes maintenance in accordance with plant procedures and instructions.
3) Performs troubleshooting on gate, globe, butterfly, check, and ball valves. Interfaces with supervisory,
engineering and planning personnel to provide recommendations for resolving deficiencies.
4) Understands, complies with, and implements complex maintenance/testing/programmatic procedures. Makes recommendations for improvement when needed. Coordinates and works with other maintenance personnel and work groups to complete job assignments.
5) Provides concise, comprehensive documentation of work activities and data obtained in a work package format.
6) Works at becoming qualified to work on all plant equipment and systems through on-the-job training and formal training programs.
7) Uses sound radiation work practices; supports the ALARA concept; and performs and directs fire watches and other safety procedures.
