Position Summary:

Bechtel is seeking an Engineering Automation Lead to join the Engineering function within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit (M&T). The prime roles and responsibilities include:

Responsible for supporting projects across all engineering disciplines to support all business lines (Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, and Data Center) within M&T on implementing the BIM execution plans, assist on deploying and supporting construction & engineering automation tools across projects. The role is accountable for identifying and implementing innovative concepts, work processes and tools to meet strategic project requirements, lower cost and reduce project duration.  The candidate will need to have experience implementing BIM Execution Plans to meet Employer’s Information Requirements and have good knowledge on Advanced Work Packaging.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for interfacing with engineering disciplines within M&T to support all business lines (Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, and Data Center) on implementing the BIM execution plans, assist on deploying and supporting construction & engineering automation tools across projects.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions.
  • Works with projects to resolve technical and work process issues related to the construction automation tools and BIM execution.
  • Provides backup support for other Digital Delivery applications.
  • Staying current with new technologies that will benefit Bechtel engineering and construction, and applying them where appropriate.
  • Responsible for preparing presentations as requested by senior management.
  • Coordinates with PIM team to identify BIM solutions that will enhance interoperability between Autodesk/Hexagon Suite, Digital Delivery tools and DEP.   
  • Position requires travel to project sites and other offices to support when required.
  • Coordinates and conducts training sessions on Autodesk and Hexagon tools.
  • Leads the effort to map the advanced work packaging concept in the BIM execution plan and 3D models.
  • Leverages experience and 3D skillset to contribute to other digital transformation efforts with other 3D platforms (Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Hexagon, Caxperts UPV, etc.), as well as Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Provides a standardized requirement for all engineering deliverables to construction for all commodities across multiple disciplines and assists the projects on implementing it.
  • Assists on deploying automation tools on projects.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in EPC industry.
  • Practical work experience sufficient to demonstrate competence and breadth in engineering and construction.
  • Ability to look at problems and provide innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with design suite (e.g., Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Infraworks, S3D) – Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Proficient with Autodesk BIM 360, and initiate solution for data interoperability with other platforms.
