JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Associate Director Student Conduct Officer for Conduct and Community Standards administers the University disciplinary system for academic and non-academic concerns. This position works in partnership with the Chief Student Affairs Officer and represents the Office of Student Success by interfacing with faculty, staff and students, from various colleges and departments, as well as parents, alumni, and off-campus constituents on matters related to student conduct, community standards, Title IX, and compliance. This position develops programming, conducts training, and implements the disciplinary system to ensure consistent, fair, and timely resolution of conduct cases and student complaints. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Engages students in ethical and moral development through teaching and the administration of outcomes and programs that enhance the student experience who engage in the student disciplinary system.
  2. Manages the development and administration of the student conduct program that upholds academic and behavioral standards of the University. 
  3. Collaborates with the Student Affairs Deans in six academic colleges to implement best practices and educational development for student conduct.
  4. Monitors the Honor Code program by developing training materials for Honor Council members, organizing regular training sessions for students and advisors, supporting the administration of the Honor Council system, and directing the University Honor Court proceedings.
  5. Develops publications, communication and marketing tools, asynchronous and synchronous training platforms, social media, and in-person training for Student Success.
  6. Implements monitoring systems and cross-checks to ensure the Office of Student Success’ federal compliance with the Higher Education Act and other state and federal student legislation and policies.
  7. Assists the campus Title IX Coordinator in overseeing the collection of and response to Title IX reports of sex discrimination and sexual misconduct received by or about students and conducting investigations.
  8. Provides complainants and respondents with information about the Sexual Misconduct Policy, Code of Conduct, the Campus Hearing Board process, and campus/community resources.
  9. Documents student complaints, concerns, and conducts (collects student complaints, develops compliant logs, tracks and analyzes trends, reports trends to campus officer, and develops training tools to address complaints).
  10. Assists in the design and delivery of education programs about Title IX, raising awareness about sexual misconduct and its prevention as requested. 
  11. Attends regular BIT, CARE, and other meetings related to student care and concern, student conduct, and wellness/prevention.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience in case management, student conduct at a higher education institution with academic health science graduate/professional degree programs and/or an academic health science center with graduate/professional degree programs; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience in case management, student conduct at a higher education institution with academic health science graduate/professional degree programs and/or an academic health science center with graduate/professional degree programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relating to the program/project area (FERPA, Title IX, ADA, Clery Act, and Campus SaVE Act).
  • Computer operation and software (Maxient, Advocate Simplicity, Pave, information management systems such as Acalog) skills.
  • Evidence of cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate a conduct program, program assessment, and conducting independent research (SPSS, STATA).
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts. 
  • Understanding and ability to interpret federal or state regulations.
