Job Summary
 

The laboratory of Elizabeth Jerison in the James Franck Institute seeks a Research Assistant. Our laboratory investigates the dynamics of immune and inflammatory responses; our primary model system is the zebrafish. The responsibilities of this role will include assisting with time-lapse imaging experiments, computational image processing, and assistance with general laboratory and zebrafish maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

  • Assist with zebrafish maintenance and report findings to the PI.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment and arrange instrument repair.

  • Oversee laboratory inventory.

  • Order laboratory supplies.

  • Provides routine or standardized laboratory duties by collecting data in support of research projects under direct supervision.

  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:         

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, or a related field.

Experience:       

  • Experimental biophysics lab.

  • Experience with Zebrafish.

  • Problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
