Inova Rehabilitation Neurologic Occupational Therapy Fellowship Program is a 52-week program that begins in August of each year. This is a full-time, 12 month position with full salary and access to employer-sponsored benefits. The fellow will pay tuition to account for administrative fees and resources. The fellowship incorporates a multitude of clinical and didactic experiences. The fellow will receive clinical practice as a treating clinician while concurrently participating in more than 350 hours of dedicated 1:1 mentorship. The fellow will work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team with dedicated time from experienced clinicians who specialize in neurorehabilitation. The Occupational Therapist 1 adheres to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit. Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols while performing re-evaluations, according to department guidelines, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed.

Schedule: M-F, 8-hour shifts, rotating weekends
Job Responsibilities:
- Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
- Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
- Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
- Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
- Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
- Showcases current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods.
Requirements:
Education: M.S. in Occupational Therapy
Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
Licensure: VA License required
