Medtronic is looking for a Trade Operations Shared Services Director to lead our global trade strategies and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.

As the Trade Operations Shared Services Director, you will be at the forefront of Medtronic’s global trade operations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives across key trade areas, including HS classification, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, and trade management systems and processes. You will lead a team of trade professionals, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.

Supporting Strategic Leadership and Team Management, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategies across HS classification, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, and trade management systems and processes.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of trade professionals, supporting regional and functional trade groups within Medtronic.

  • Provide updates and strategic recommendations to senior leaders to align trade operations with business objectives.

Leading Compliance Oversight and Execution, you will:

  • Design and execute trade procedures, training programs, and data validation processes in alignment with global policies.

  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations across relevant geographies and content areas.

  • Manage trade audits, investigations, and corrective action plans related to HS classification, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, and trade management systems.

Supporting Cross-Functional Collaboration, you will:

  • Establish strong partnerships with corporate policymakers and cross-functional teams, including Tax, Finance, Data & Analytics, IT, and Logistics.

  • Collaborate with Global Trade Legal Compliance (GTLC) on policy development and program execution.

  • Develop and maintain data and metrics to enhance visibility and performance tracking for the Shared Services team.

Leading Training and Change Management, you will:

  • Create and implement training materials to ensure adherence to trade requirements across global teams.

  • Lead change management initiatives across various workstreams, including imports, exports, and regional and functional teams.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant trade operations experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant trade operations experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Deep functional expertise in global Trade Operations & Compliance - Import, Export, Sanctions, Export Controls.

  • Familiarity with trade regulations, audits, and corrective action planning.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions and influence senior leadership.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of driving change in complex environments.

  • Strong ability to confidently engage external stakeholders, including government officials.

  • Strong ability to anticipate potential issues and opportunities using internal and external knowledge and to mitigate risks.
