Job Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise infrastructure solutions to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role involves managing networks, servers, cloud environments, and storage systems while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess business needs, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvements. Additionally, they will provide technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and stay up to date with emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure efficiency and resilience. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, future-proof infrastructure solutions across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. 

• Assess current infrastructure processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, automation, and orchestration. 

• Conduct technology assessments and POCs to evaluate new tools and platforms, validating solutions before broader implementation. 

• Provide architectural leadership to ensure infrastructure solutions align with business and technical requirements, while mentoring teams and setting long-term strategies. 

• Design and recommend strategies for high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery that meet modern best practices. 

• Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver infrastructure solutions that support business growth and innovation. 

• Evaluate and recommend security frameworks and compliance strategies to ensure infrastructure security and regulatory alignment. 

• Lead rapid prototyping efforts to test and validate infrastructure solutions, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and reliability expectations. 

Qualifications

• Hybrid in Manassas, VA. 

• Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance. 

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise infrastructure solutions. 

• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure management (Azure, AWS, GCP). 

• Proficiency in the development and automated management of portable infrastructure deployments across various platforms with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Crossplane.io, etc. 

• Hand-on experience developing GitLab-CI pipelines. 

• Deep understanding of container orchestration via portable Kubernetes distributions (RKE, RKE2, OpenShift, etc.). 

• Experience leading platform backup & disaster recovery efforts. 

• Familiarity with distributed cloud-native storage solutions such as Longhorn. 

• Understanding of observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Kibana, Fluentd, etc.) 

• Ability to define and enforce configuration and policy management using tools such as Open Policy Agent. 

• Familiarity with cloud-native IdPs such as Keycloak. 

• Experience managing software-related artifacts with tools such Artifactory and Harbor Registry. 

• Familiarity with cloud native application management tools such as Kustomize, Helm, and ArgoCD. 

• Experience drafting detailed technical documentation. 

• Skilled in assessing business needs and translating them into technical infrastructure solutions while troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently.
