About the role

Overview

SMS seeks an experienced Radio Maintenance & Public Address Technician for the Kirtland C4 contract at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.  Primary responsibilities include maintenance and troubleshooting of a Motorola Trunked Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system including dispatch consoles, mobile PA equipment, Air Traffic Controller (ATC) radios, UHF/VHF Antenna systems, ATI Giant Voice, and fixed PA systems among various buildings, and installation and repair of mobile radios.  Assigned as a Primary Equipment Control Officer (PECO) in the Kirtland AFB Personal Wireless Communication Systems (PWCS) program. These duties include the training and management of unit level PWCS custodians, lifecycle asset reports, management of radios in the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS), maintaining the PWCS continuity folder in SharePoint, completing Radio Frequency Authorization (RFA) requests and adhering to all PWCS annual reporting requirements. Additional duties include, but not limited to, Corrosion Control, Electronic Discharge (ESD), HazMat Monitor, Record Custodian, and other integrated work center responsibilities.  Maintains a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Motorola Trunked Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, mobile PA equipment, Air Traffic Controller (ATC) radios, UHF/VHF Antenna systems, the towers associated with the ATI Giant Voice, and fixed PA systems.
  • Assigned as a Primary Equipment Control Officer (PECO) in the Kirtland AFB Personal Wireless Communication Systems (PWCS) program.
  • These duties include the training and management of unit level PWCS custodians, lifecycle asset reports, management of radios in the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS), maintaining the PWCS continuity folder in SharePoint, completing Radio Frequency Authorization (RFA) requests and adhering to all PWCS annual reporting requirements. Additional duties include, but not limited to,
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and deploy ground level and orbital networks and devices in support of the Command Post and the Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal (GASNT)
  • Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
  • Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.
  • Performs Corrosion Control duties on associated radio and antenna equipment.
  • Assists in managing the Kirtland C4 Electronic Discharge (ESD) program.
  • Acts as HazMat Monitor for safe handling of hazardous materials during performance of job duties.
  • Performs Record Custodian duties for the LMR work center and other integrated work center responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, and possess the ability to direct the activities of other team members.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions such as climbing ladders, standing, bending, and lifting for duration of the duty day.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Radio Frequency (RF) communications theory, operation, installation, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Public Address systems, Networking, or Electronics.
  • Demonstrated experience in Customer service, ability to communicate information in a professional and respectful manner to top level base Commanders and Directors.
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers.
  • A valid New Mexico Driver’s License Required
  • Requires a DoD SECRET security clearance.
  • IAT-I preferred: Minimum of CompTIA A+ CE, Network+ CE
