Associate Director, US New Business Broker Financial Solutions: Trade Credit and Political Risks

About the role

Trade credit insurance is a fast-growing product line within WTW Financial Solutions and the US market. Joining this team will have a candidate immediately immersed in solving trade credit risk and liquidity concerns of Treasurers and CFOs for a wide range of WTW clients and prospects both domestically and abroad. This position offers the unique blend of insurance risk-mitigation with corporate finance-based concepts and strategies. While the position is new business focused, the position is salaried, and candidates will not be required to externally cold-call or externally solicit for business.

The Associate Director, US New Business Broker, who reports to the Head of New Business (USA) and interacts with the wider WTW network of Brokers as well as WTW clients and prospects in the design of Trade Credit Insurance programs for our clients and prospects, promotes both internal and external product awareness, and assists in growth initiatives while also participating within the USA Trade Credit team and assisting with existing clients as needed.

The Role

Client Facing

  • Collaborate in the development of educational, sales, and pipeline strategies. 
  • Introductory fact-finding and placement meetings with existing clients and prospects.
  • Develops account strategies, presentations, and other forms of communication.
  • Receives quotes from carriers and negotiates for the best program for clients.
  • Binds carrier quotes and obtains binders and coverage confirmations.
  • May identify and develop new pieces of business with existing clients.
  • Provides customer service, including resolving customer inquiries and problems

Organizational Facing

  • Maintains market relationships, build strong relationships with key insurers, and participate in industry associations.
  • Creates and presents educational material to producer colleagues to bring awareness about the products, its benefits, markets, potential prospects, etc.
  • Create and execute internal and external sales campaigns including strategies for execution, tracking results, and feedback loop improvements.
  • Interact with Marketing, Sales, and Compliance departments in the creation of regularly released physical and digital Marketing Collateral and Promotional pieces.
  • Work with Global Head of Trade Credit and Head of New Business USA in identifying and executing both industry and organizational strategic growth objectives

The Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years industry or related experience
  • Property and Casualty license required or obtained within three months of start date.
  • Strong group presentation skills (written and verbal); ability to drive complex/technical conversations and engage at executive level.
  • Relationship management and customer focus; ability to leverage internal and external relationships to bring WTW resources and assets tailored to client needs; ability to drive conflict resolution.
  • Negotiation skills: ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to do complex deals, drive consensus across internal and external stakeholders to close deals.
  • Business acumen: knowledge of strategy, tactics, and solutions for the client in the marketplace.
  • Project Management: ability to drive end to end oversight of large, complex, ambiguous, or multi-dimensional projects.
  • Receptive to feedback; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; high adaptability
  • Knowledge of end-to-end insurance process, including process owners and rationale/purpose of key steps in the purchasing/ renewal/ broker selection process.
  • Insurance technical skills, ability to apply knowledge of coverage forms in analysis of program design, identification of coverage gaps and ongoing coverage consultation. Ability to interpret, analyze and present models. 
  • Technology acumen – ability to utilize technology-based record management systems, basic MS Office skills and familiarity with other relevant online tools.
