SUMMARY
Oversee, organize and perform audits for conformance to paint specifications on weldments, assemblies, piece parts, and completed machines. Document non-conformance, look for patterns, and perform root cause analysis to eliminate issues. A Quality Control Paint Technician is capable of leading quality initiatives while providing support and guidance throughout the paint production with minimal oversight and direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance and support to quality and production staff, investigating issues with manufactured and paint supplier product.
- Collaborate with engineering, production teams, suppliers and purchasing to create action plans to address paint quality issues or trends.
- Provide paint production management with data to support quality trends.
- Ensure the consistency of paint quality by organizing and performing audits of machines and/or piece parts before they move on to the next process.
- Communicate with outside vendors to source new product, resolve/test paint issues, and implement corrective action.
- Process Return Goods Authorizations (RGA’s) and work with the purchasing department to manage affected inventory.
- Lead paint quality initiative projects.
- Create paint standard work and process documentation.
- Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and confer with Management or Engineering to determine if parts and fit/finish of machines meet quality and reliability standards.
- Document nonconformance and assist with a development plan to correct.
- Assist in the direction and training of paint personnel and quality personnel to verify machines are being painted to the required specifications.
- Create and maintain inspection documentation.
- Assist with development and approval of paint work instructions.
- Work in a safe manner at all times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Required
Continued education related to Industrial or Automotive Painting preferred
5+ years’ related experience in a Paint and Finish Department
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Paint Specific Right-to-Know Training
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both over the phone and in person. Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to display active listening skills and ask the appropriate questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Blueprint reading
- Excellent communications and documentation skills.
