**ANTICIPATED VACANCY**

 

 

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF or Department) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. The agency’s mission is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.

Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as a Human Services Program Director within the SAMH Regional Office. This is a professional position performing highly responsible technical, consultative, and administrative work.  This position will Provide oversight for the regional compliance technical assistance and monitoring activities; ensure technical assistance and training. This position will collaborate with each section within the program office and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be detail oriented. 

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

This is a professional position performing highly responsible technical, consultative, and administrative work. The person in this position has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • This is professional work supervising and directing employees. The primary duty of the incumbent in this position is to spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as: hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, and reward or discipline direct reports. Evaluates employees against established standards and takes appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.).
  • Provide oversight for the regional compliance technical assistance and monitoring activities; ensure technical assistance and training is provided related to SAMH programs.  Completes, organizes, and maintains monitoring documentation in accordance with unit standards and record retention require.
  • Provide oversight for the regional complaint hub to ensure inquiries or complaints to ensure complaint resolution. Prepares correspondence and reports that meet standards for content and style.
