Responsibilities Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science and Machine Learning team. This role will collaborate with other organizational units to identify and refine project opportunities that align with strategic business objectives. The Data Scientist needs to be driven to identify descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive insights with our data to enable our stakeholders, identify risk, and impact the bottom line by driving efficiency.
- Mine and analyze large data sets from proprietary databases for use in reporting, modeling, and ad hoc analysis
- Communicate findings utilizing data visualization tools
- Develop products using various machine learning techniques (supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning methods)
- Coordinate with Machine Learning team to transfer ad hoc analysis and custom models into production deployments and platform integrations
- Partner with Data Analysts and Machine Learning team to integrate initiatives with our reporting and application data
- Statistically evaluate and enhance existing deployments to improve performance
- Manage work independently through prioritized tickets in our enterprise project management tool (Jira)
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with development and testing of dynamic pricing models that optimize price points based on multiple factors (i.e. demand fluctuations, user behavior, transaction history, competitive pricing, and external market conditions)
- Experience with market segmentation and forecasting demand
- Knowledge of modern data science and product/web analytics tools, techniques, and best practices (Databricks, AWS, etc.)
- Experience in Data Science or related field
- Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Redshift, Postgres, MySQL, etc.). NoSQL experience a plus
- Experience using statistical programming languages (Python, R, etc.)
- Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Advanced quantitative/statistical analysis skills to solve business problems and provide insight using data
- Understanding of statistical concepts (regression, classification, nearest neighbors, distributions, optimization, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and their applications
- Strong problem solving and written/verbal communication skills
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- Experience leveraging an IDE (VS Code, PyCharm, Spyder, etc.) and code version control with GitHub
