Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, is recruiting for an Associate Coordinator, Practicum/Field Education. The Associate Coordinator assists with the implementation of the practicum/field education curriculum for the on-ground and online social work programs within the School of Social Work. This position is in-person and located in Reno, Nevada (not remote).

The position is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and training of community field instructors as well as the placement and monitoring of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students in practicum/field education sites. Along with the field director, the field coordinator assures that the field placements meet the program and the Council of Social Work Education’s (CSWE’s) requirements. The position is also responsible for assisting with the recruitment and admissions of undergraduate and graduate students.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of innovative, experiential field learning opportunities for BSW and MSW students.

  • Recruit and assess agencies for field placement; negotiate Agency-School contracts.

  • Train and maintain communication with field instructors and agency partners.

  • Address student and site concerns during practicum placements.

  • Coordinate with online education partners to support distance learning field components.

  • Ensure field placements meet program and CSWE accreditation requirements.

  • Assist with student placement: review applications, help identify sites, assign interviews, confirm placements, and maintain communication.

  • Manage placement data and tracking systems.

  • Maintain field education databases, manuals, and handbooks.

  • Support curriculum development and content updates for the field education program.

  • Update field education webpage content, including policies and resources.

  • Participate in School of Social Work meetings and assist with student recruitment and admissions.

  • Teach one (1) 3-credit course annually (may include summer) and/or supervise multiple off-site field placements.

  • Build and maintain partnerships with social work practice communities.

  • Serve on school or university committees as needed.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work from CSWE accredited program and two years of related work experience. Related experience: Post-MSW professional social work practice or related.
