Senior Full Stack PHP Engineer

Better Collective is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with experience in PHP based projects like Wordpress and fluent in working with sql databases (querying and optimising them) to join our team in Thessaloniki. You will be working on high traffic sports media websites, maintaining them, developing new features, as well as troubleshooting and fixing issues that arise. The person who will join will be a key contributor to new tech initiatives such as platform migrations and performance optimizations.
Responsibilities
Work on custom theme Wordpress sites
Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders, to understand requirements and craft optimal solutions.
Convert design mockups to fully functional end to end features.
Identify and troubleshoot issues, perform debugging, and ensure the overall quality & performance on both the frontend and backend of the websites.
Design and optimise database structures to ensure efficient data retrieval.
Implement frontend best practices for SEO and performance, aligning with Core Web Vitals standards to deliver exceptional user experiences.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in web development, evaluate & propose relevant integration solutions.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Extensive experience in PHP development, including hands-on expertise with WordPress or other php framework development and customization .
Strong command over SQL and database management, including performance optimization and data migration.
Great understanding of core frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and a keen eye for SEO and Core Web Vitals optimization.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills & ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
Enthusiasm for working with new technologies and a strong eagerness to learn.
