We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our OEM aero/industrial nozzle manufacturing facility in West Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will leverage your engineering expertise to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and collaborate across teams to solve technical challenges. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the production of high-performance aerospace components.

This is an onsite role in West Des Moines, IA and may have some infrequent travel. This role is eligible for relocation

What You Will Do

  • Evaluate and resolve non-conforming product issues as a Material Review Board (MRB) member.
  • Minimize the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) for assigned product lines.
  • Define and solve technical problems in manufacturing, assembly, and testing environments.
  • Implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives on assigned product lines.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to enhance manufacturability of products.
  • Develop efficient production workflows and determine optimal sequencing of operations.
  • Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects and analyze cost factors.
  • Support facility layouts for manufacturing processes and equipment as needed.
  • Solve manufacturing challenges of varying complexity.
  • Design tools, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks to improve manufacturing processes and address safety concerns.
  • 3D printing of fixtures.
  • Create detailed assembly work instructions using Microsoft Excel and Word (experience with SolidWorks Composer is a plus).
  • Program laser markers and develop operator instructions for laser marking processes.
  • Utilize RTX-Lifecycle-Program-Management (RLPM) for New Product Introduction projects (NPI) to develop build plans for new fuel nozzle designs.
  • Develop and maintain production routings and bill of materials.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality and technical issues.
  • Act as the technical liaison with customer engineering and quality teams when required.
  • Conduct compliance reviews to ensure conformance with customer specifications and requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field 

Qualifications We Prefer 

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering (manufacturing, operations, aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or a related field).
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with MS Project is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Hands-on experience in machining, assembly, fixture design, tooling design, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with special processes such as vacuum brazing, heat treating, TIG/laser welding, and EDM.
