Job Description

The primary purpose of the Senior Cloud Post Engineer is to support the Post Cloud infrastructure environment of NBCUniversal. The core responsibilities include (but are not limited to) assigning, managing and resolving requests from clients. The role also requires creating upgrade procedures and managing infrastructure improvements along with the L3 team. Position requires a thorough understanding of Avid, Adobe, Resolve, encoding systems and various asset management systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide Level 2 technical support (including on-call support) for Cloud Post environments
  • Maintain, and troubleshoot NBCU’s Cloud Post Production and physical infrastructure
  • Upgrade and patch systems as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
  • Actively participate in projects to improve systems and procedures through meetings and written updates 
  • Author and maintain internal technical documentation and articles hosted on internal SharePoint site
  • Lead investigations of outages in Post Production Cloud systems and their integration points to identify systematic issues and root causes 
  • Proactively communicate with vendors, clients, and other engineering teams to resolve system issues and drive future development 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional experience 
  • Subject Matter Expert in:
    • Avid (Interplay, NEXIS, Media Central Cloud UX and Media Composer)
    • Adobe Creative Cloud, Blackmagic Resolve, 3rd party plugins for all applications
    • OS Virtualization
    • Leostream and Teradici deployments
    • Administrating machines remotely
    • File encoding using Root 6 Content Agent, Vantage and ColorFront
    • Archive middleware using Telestream Diva
    • System vulnerabilities and security best practices
    • File acceleration application using Signiant products
    • Video signals - SD, HD, UHD, HDR, SRT resolutions, frame rates
    • Video Compression – MPEG2, MPEG4/AVC, XAVC, DNx, ProRes etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • Windows domain administration
    • File system administration (NFS, CIFS, SMB)
    • Network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS)
    • Linux administration – preferably RedHat/CentOS/Debian
  • Experience and understanding of the following:
    • Automation using Terraform, Puppet, Packer and FSLogix
    • Cloud based hosting – Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS
    • JSON, C#, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • On-call and weekend work as required

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
