The Team: Our team builds products to help Netflix optimize our large content investment ($XX Billion) that enables us to produce world-class, award-winning, high quality, and diverse content. The goal of our team is to provide operational excellence, accurate reporting and decision intelligence to our Creative, Revenue Finance and Rights Management business functions throughout the Revenue & Content Production life cycle.
We're looking for a senior engineering leader who can create a strong Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) technology vision and viable roadmap within the Netflix Finance space and collaborate with revenue finance leaders to continue making investments in the space.  We need a technology leader who understands how to build/deploy FP&A tools that optimizes key Planning and Reporting workflows, give guidance on which tools to create, which tools to buy, and how they all fit together to provide a seamless experience

What you will do:

  • Build and manage a team of talented FP&A and Revenue infrastructure engineers and analysts with the ability to not only keep up with, but also pioneer, in this space. Set the vision, goals, priorities and work alongside the team to accomplish them. Ensure high-quality technical solutions and skill development.
  • Partner with product management, FP&A leadership and Revenue Accounting leadership to drive strategic planning, roadmap development, and operational planning for your teams, and collaborate with leadership to ensure the team's work directly impacts company strategy and direction. Collaborate and drive the technical vision for the Financial Planning and Reporting product ecosystem.
  • Have an eye for challenges arising at the seams and cracks of different technologies in the FP&A & Revenue domain.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with our partner organizations, helping to align our technical efforts with external needs.
  • Clearly and crisply communicate architectural decisions, plans, and standards for the FP&A and Revenue Accounting products we create and support.
  • Define a set of standard technologies & tools for the FP&A and Reporting ecosystem, and drive the adoption, implementation, and ongoing sustaining of the platform.
  • Develop an organizational structure and operating model in which the engineers thrive in cross-functional teams (with engineers, analysts, data scientists, product managers etc)

Why you will succeed:

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science or related field, and/or 15+ years related experience as a FP&A and/or Revenue Accounting Engineer, with 8+ years leading teams
  • Deep experience with FP&A tools like Adaptive, Anaplan, Essbase, TM1 and deploying them on cloud-based data platforms like AWS/GCP
  • You have the gift of being able to see clear technical solutions to complex data and FP&A and Reporting+ problems.
  • Excellent software development skills and fluency in at least one programming language (preferably Java or Python).
  • Knowledge of advanced visualization tools such as Microstrategy, Thoughtspot, Qlikview, and Looker.
  • You are energized by large impactful initiatives that require alignment and coordination across many different technical organizations.
  • You understand that diplomacy and relationship building is as essential as a strong technical vision.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to operate in a fast moving environment.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Expertise in SDLC (systems development life cycle) / Iterative / Agile / Scrum development
  • Exceptional judgment, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Strong analytical mind.
  • You value “simple” as a design goal and recognize that simple and easy are very much not the same thing.
  • Once you’ve presented your vision, you know how to bring people along.
  • You care very deeply about creating project teams that model psychological safety and inclusivity, where engineers can do their best work.
