Job Description
As a Graduate Solar Project Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and optimising the design and delivery of our ground mounted solar PV and hybrid solar projects. You will join the UK & Ireland regional solar team within our International Project Delivery Department.
Your main focus will be our projects in Ireland, and you will work closely with the local, solar project development team. You will also support projects in the UK and internationally as part of a wider international team of solar, wind and storage engineers.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Technical evaluation of sites via site visits and investigations
- New technology evaluation and selection
- Producing and quality assuring electro-mechanical engineering designs and calculations for large scale Solar PV and Hybrid Solar, Storage and Wind systems.
- Selecting and processing solar irradiation and albedo datasets
- Energy yield estimation and uncertainty analysis
- Preliminary electrical system sizing calculations and producing concept electrical single line diagrams.
- Producing preliminary Bills of Quantities
- Engineering support to permitting applications, construction tenders and execution stages
- Undertaking design health & safety risk assessments
- Participation in the continuous development of our expert group forums, operational processes and internally funded R&D programme.
Qualifications
We are looking for people who are passionate about leading the global shift to renewable energy with the relevant technical skills, collaboration and innovation mindsets and ambitions to develop professionally.
Furthermore, your profile should include:
- Degree level qualification in electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, industrial, energy engineering, physics or other relevant technical discipline;
- Knowledge of ground mounted, utility scale solar PV plants - battery storage and hybrid system experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and PVSyst
- Fluency in English.
