Deposit Products Specialist - Special Accounts

About the role

This role involves delivering deposit products and building strong departmental relationships to serve members efficiently and accurately. It includes handling regulations, procedures, and disclosures for new and existing deposit products. Expertise in IRAs, deceased accounts, trusts, POA/POD accounts, and other special account types is essential. Additionally, support is provided to ensure members receive accurate and efficient deposit solutions.

Essential Functions:  

  • Provide deposit knowledge and member service to both internal and external members, answering questions about SCU deposit products and procedures.
  • Implement procedures to support member relationship building and streamline front-line activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory aspects of all deposit products, including deceased accounts, trust accounts, POA accounts, Payable on Death rules, and UTMA accounts.
  • Handle IRA reporting between our IRA administrator and core system, ensuring accurate form completion.
  • Serve as a key resource for deceased accounts, managing calls and documentation to ensure smooth transitions and account closures.
  • Review documents for trust and POA account openings to ensure compliance and fit for members.
  • Assist in processing wire requests, balancing timeliness with security procedures.
  • Process incoming paper payroll lists from external payroll offices.
  • Execute all job functions in compliance with BSA, OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP) requirements. 

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Professional well developed writing and interpersonal skills essential for interacting with credit union staff, members and outside business partners.
  • Work requires ability to work accurately with figures and ability to perform detailed work. Work also requires the ability to operate a variety of office equipment (10-key, personal computer, Microsoft office). 
  • Requires educational equivalent to a high school education plus additional coursework in office procedures desired.
  • One to three years experience in a bank or credit union setting.
  • Requires judgment to solve day-to-day problems but usually within established guidelines using a member service approach. This include process improvements to increase the member experience or create an efficiency for the department.
  • Basic mathematical skills required (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division).
