The Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within a busy medical oncology office/infusion center setting. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

Provides direct patient care under direction of provider and nurses, including but not limited to:

·        Vitals

·        Allergy & medication reconciliation

·        Screenings

·        Patient history              

·        Health maintenance

·        Advance directives

·        Virtual health

Provides indirect patient care related to the Medical Assistant scope of education, including but not limited to:

·        Scheduling

·        Work queues / Worklists

·        Check in/check out

·        Referrals

·        In-basket         

·        Chart prep

·        Non-clinical patient result callbacks

·        Prior authorizations

·        Transportation facilitation

Conducts point of care testing including quality control & documentation including but not limited to:

•        EKG

•      Hemoglobin A1C

•     Urinalysis

•  Hemoglobin POCT 

•  Urine toxicity

• INR

 

Qualifications

 Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic Certification OR relative experience

Experience:

In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be
