Senior Engineer - New Technology & Innovation

About the Role:

The global New Technology & Innovation (NT&I) team is at the center of audio technology support in Harman’s innovative products. The NT&I Denmark team is seeking a highly skilled and creative talent who is interested in advancing audio technologies at Harman.

As part of this team, you will be in a senior position combining your technical expertise with innovative ideas to help to drive cutting-edge solutions in consumer audio products. Your Team:

You will join an international team of highly competent and motivated members based in Denmark, Germany, and China. This position will report to Distinguished Engineer NT&I Denmark.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and implement innovative technologies that provide competitive advantages in our products.
• Participate in technology strategy planning that helps fulfill the company’s objectives.
• Take ownership of legacy algorithms used in the current products in order to provide necessary updates and ensure continued improvement.
• Explore emerging technologies and assess their potential applications within the company.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional units to ensure a smooth progression and seamless integration of developmental technologies from inception to commercialization.
• Work with cross-functional units in both research and product development that aligns with business priorities.
• Conduct and oversee projects, and effectively communicate project status within function as well as across functions.

What You Need:

• Education and Experience:
  • MS or Ph.D in a relevant technical field, e.g., audio signal processing, mathematics, computer science, acoustics, hearing science, or other related majors.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in audio algorithm development with proven records.
  • Experience in consumer audio product engineering with proven records.
  • Experience with algorithm development in one or more of the following areas: binaural hearing, spatial audio rendering via headphone and/or loudspeaker array, microphone array processing, noise reduction, speech enhancement.
  • Familiarity with audio system and/or VR, MR, AR.
  • Good understanding of AI/ML, such as: statistical modeling, deep learning, and generative AI.
  • Experience with applied AI/ML for audio applications is a plus.
• Software Development Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python for prototyping and experience with C or C++ is a plus.
  • Experience in using deep learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Familiarity with common software engineering practices, e.g., structured approach towards coding (e.g., Object-oriented programming), version control (e.g., Git).
