JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Technician participates in quality improvement teams to identify and solve quality problems, conducts audits of company quality, material, process and technical requirements and identifies discrepancies. Assists in follow up for corrective action with areas at fault and supports manufacturing activities through auditing/monitoring of quality processes. Helps analyzes and solves quality problems, performs laboratory inspection/test, measures product/process performance, all in the promotion of continuous improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Inspects products using gauges, coordinate measuring machine, scales, oscilloscope and vision prior to shipment.
- Follows written and/or verbal instructions from Supervisors.
- Generates spreadsheets for data collection.
- Reconciles final inspection documentation for shipments.
- Interacts with team members, leads, supervisors, and managers as needed.
- Tests incoming raw materials.
- Makes and revises set ups on test stands calibrated by others.
- Corrects for errors in own work.
- Performs record-keeping duties.
- Performs minor maintenance of quality lab equipment, as required, wipes and keeps machines, and tools.
- Reports recognized defective material and equipment to supervisor.
- Follows all aspects of Standardized Work Instructions.
- Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.
- Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school diploma or GED; Associates degree in a technical field highly preferred.
At least two years of Quality Technician experience in a manufacturing assembly operation is required.
Will have the practical knowledge and ability to apply problem solving / statistical analysis; train and / or reinforce manufacturing associate skills in the basic fundamentals of drawings, GD&T, Shop Math, and SPC.
Experience using different types of gages (CMM operation and Programming) and gage calibration is required.
Basic blueprint reading skills are required.
Strong organization skills are required.
Strong math skills are required.
Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must be able to work in a team orientated environment.
Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
